THE PROPER FIT FACTOR

You may have never experienced properly fitting footwear; it may be that Mephisto will fit differently than any shoe you have ever worn. This is a common experience and it should be noted that proper fit is critical to comfort. With walking, it is important to give your toes a substantial degree of freedom. They should never be “locked in”, one against another. Mephisto shoes should provide plenty of room in the toe area. The same thinking applies to your heel. The Mephisto heel is not designed to fit snug. A comfortable walking shoe will flex and bend with your foot. Your foot should be cradled, not bound. A properly fitting shoe should not have to be “broken in” to be comfortable…they should be comfortable from the very first step you take.

Sizing

Sizing can vary from style to style which means you may not wear the same size in all your shoes. Also, our sandals are available in full sizes only. If you are normally a half size in a Mephisto shoe, you should size up to the next size. Below are some size conversion charts which offer general guidelines for converting your size to another scale.

Beautiful shoe but there's something off with US sizing. I'm usually an 8 but this shoe was too long. I returned it for a 7.5 which was snug. Returned again. I'm really sad that it did t fit well.

Bizarre gaping gaps!

These shoes are gorgeous to look at but I was shocked by how ill-fitting they were. I’d wanted them for over a year and finally gave in and got them. I tried so hard to like them or even tolerate them because of how beautiful they are but besides being just plain uncomfortable there were strange gaps on the sides…on both sides of both shoes…between the side of my foot and the shoe. It was seriously bizarre and I’ve never had that problem with any shoe I’ve ever tried on in over 50 years. Even though I saved a lot of money by doing so I was so sad that I had to send them back.
